Bio
The particular smell of oil paint roams through my memories as far back as I can recall. My mother was a leisurely oil painter, and throughout my life, I have also received paints, canvases, brushes, and technical instruction from my aunt, who is a professional painter and illustrator. While my academic interests in college led me into the study of theology, philosophy, psychology, and English literature, holding degrees in theology and English literature, I studied art history, art theory, and life drawing as well. Other than formal training, I've studied the masters on my own and participated in life drawing groups for years. I have also traveled through Europe and Mexico, studying and experiencing some of the worlds greatest architecture, paintings, sculptures, and murals. Artists who have influenced me are: J.W. Waterhouse, Klimt, Christian Schad, Stanley Spencer, Tamar de Lempicka, Thomas Benton, Lucian Freud, Diego Rivera, and many more.
